Protected Species

Tree ferns are slow growing plants that fill an important role in protecting gullies after fire. It is illegal for members of the public to remove or damage them yet loggers routinely cut or flatten them in gullies.

It is illegal to log Rainforest.
Buffer zones should be left when logging near rainforest.
Yet it is common to find the stumps of species of trees which can only grow in rainforest, the forest above having been logged.
